Following graduation from Cardiff University in Marine Geography, I embarked on various different jobs, including researching climate data for a film production company, working as a park and recreation officer, sports development officer and then qualifying as a fully licensed tennis coach. This gave me the opportunity to work with children and I particularly enjoyed working with the older age group.
I decided to complete my teaching qualification and was fortunate to gain a place on the Graduate Teacher Programme, being placed at a secondary school in Guildford, which was a steep learning curve. Over the past twelve years, I have taught Geography up to A-Level, Religious Education up to GCSE level and KS3 History. In Perth, Australia, I had to learn and teach Australian Politics and Law too.
The various different education settings I have worked at have allowed me to develop my existing skills and knowledge and now tutoring is further enhancing my educational repertoire. I am thoroughly enjoying it!
My partner and I spent two years in Australia and New Zealand, working and travelling before returning to the South West, where we both particularly enjoy the outdoors! I have two young children who keep me very busy. I work part-time as a Geography teacher at a local Exeter secondary school. In my spare time I enjoy being active, whether cycling around East Devon, walking, jogging, or playing tennis, as well as painting.
